Tianjin Museum of Science and Technology

THURSDAY January 3, 2013-

The kids are all on break…and we're all going crazy from cabin fever!  I think it might be time to get out of the house.  What do you think???

Chrissie had mentioned going to one of the science museums in Tianjin- the fourth graders went on a field trip there and it was apparently a big hit (Annika missed that field trip because we were on a plane pointed towards Japan).  It sounds like there are lots of hands-on activities for kids to do…sounds like a great place to go!!!

Let's see…who came along for the ride:

Holly, Amelie and Sebastian

Jennifer (almost due with baby #2!) and Landon

Chrissie, Mimi and Ngfaun (I'm still sure I'm misspelling her name) + girl friend

See that building with big ball on top? That's the museum! Hey…and we do have blue skies every once in a while.

cool sculpture??? not sure WHAT it is but doesn't it look interesting?

Amelie and Ava playing with one of the exhibits.  I'm not exactly sure what we're trying to demonstrate here but the girls had fun playing with the balls!

Chrissie filling the small bucket of the pendulum and then watched it "write".

Check out this funny optical illusion….if you stare at each of the prints you can see them "move".

Ooooooo!!!!  Blue lights!  (hurts my eyes but the girls are amused)

HA ha ha!!!  Check out this funny contraption:

Yes, I guess square wheels do work. Ok, not very well but at least it amused the kids! They rode up and down the tracks.

We've explored the two floors of the museum and now we've got a hungry bunch of kids!  The Galaxy Mall is close by and Mark really wanted to try that Chinese restaurant that we went to on Monday.

We all barely fit around this big table at the restaurant. We attracted a LOT of attention….so many Westerners in one spot!

Lunch was fantastic!!!! Hope you had fun!  I know we did!!!!

Oh…and did you notice that it is THURSDAY???  Normally this would be a working day in most of the world but here in China they have this weird "vacation" schedule.  Mark and his coworkers got January 1, 2 and 3 off but they HAD TO WORK THE WEEKEND!!!!!  How absolutely RIDCULOUS!!!!!! How is that a vacation if you have to WORK EIGHT DAYS IN A ROW????????!!???
