Well, the lady running this inn…which I'm thinking is more like a minshuku (a Japanese style bed and breakfast) than a ryokan but I could be totally wrong…has just checked us in. We're the only guests staying here tonight (but we'll be here for two nights). Set down your luggage and let's take a quick glance around.
Our room isn't huge but we'll just fit with the bedding spread out (which we'll have to set up tonight). The bathroom and shower room are at the other end of the house.
This sliding door opens up to the outside! Ah….nice, fresh air!
A peek into the main living space:
Mark and Annika are trying to figure out how to make the electronic hot water device spout out hot water for some tea.
Waiting for tea….check out the open fire pit just in front of us!!!! (is that safe to have an open fire pit in an all wood house?) . Check out the woodstove in the background. Just to the right of the wood stove are some sliding doors that lead to the kitchen.
Definitely different and very interesting!!!
We've had some tea and we're armed with a map so I think we're ready to go explore the interesting buildings. Join us???
