We're heading to Kyoto….and here are some views from the train as we're watching the countryside whiz past us:
Very cool thing was listening to Annika teach Ava how to do multiplication. Seriously. Annika has learned a trick (which she still needs to show me!) to doing multiplication and the girls were doing math while riding on the train.
Look at how CLEAN the countryside is:
Just beautiful! In some respects this part of Japan reminded us of Alaska, Austria and the Pacific Northwest all rolled into one.
At Nagoya train station waiting for the Shinkansen (bullet train) to take us the rest of the way. We're ever so grateful that we could buy tickets at a counter with an English speaking person. We're also grateful that this particular train runs frequently (so we didn't have to wait very long to catch our ride). We did end up buying tickets with seat reservations even though they cost a little bit extra- just added insurance that we'll get a seat! (and yes, the tickets were $$$$$ but definitely worth it!)
Ah….here's our train! Doesn't it look futuristic????
We're in Kyoto!
After a bit of frustration and a phone call we finally figured out which bus we needed to take and where we needed to get off to get to our next inn.
Oh, thank goodness! A JR 3 bus just pulled up!!!! Here we go! See you at the inn! (our inn is at the edge of the city. Most of the awesome inns which were recommended by friends were already booked up. I'm sure we'll be fine!)
