Happy Sunday morning!!!!
And ….
Happy Easter!!!!!
Isn't it cool that we'll get to spend Easter in Thailand????
(sad that we'll be missing Easter services back home, etc but we have to enjoy what we've got!)
Just to make sure we're all clear on events happening for today: first we'll check out a different beach via a short taxi ride and then we'll go Easter egg hunting at the resort. Hope that sounds like fun to you because that's what we're doing!!!!
Now, I hope you've all filled your tummies full at the breakfast buffet. You're going to need your strength swimming in the ocean!
Meet you back at the main entrance to the hotel in ten minutes! We've got a taxi waiting to take us to Nai Yang beach.
Hop in the taxi!
Soooo…..
Did you notice anything different???? Well, you folks from the UK or New Zealand or Australia might not think anything is weird but we Americans weren't expecting this! Check out what side of the car the steering wheel is on!!!! I was DEFINITELY not expecting that!!!!
Are you ready for a morning of playing in the sand, sun and surf???? Well, I know that our ever-cheerful traveling companions are ready!!!!
Whoops. First things first! We have to get a couple of these beach chairs with a lovely umbrella. Two chairs that come with a table and beach umbrellas cost only 150 Thai Baht (that's less than $5 US) for the entire day. Sweeeeet deal!!!!
Ahhhh…..check out those gentle waves! It's so relaxing ….and since there isn't a strong under tow we don't have to worry as much about the little people in our party. Go ahead and let your worries drift away!!!
Hey…if you play in the sand and surf like our ever-so-cheerful traveling companions then don't be surprised when you get a LOAD of sand in places that shouldn't ever get sand!!!! (owwwwie!!!!)
Another look at this beautiful and surprisingly not crowded beach. Something else that is kind of unusual- listening to all the different languages being spoken by all the other tourists. You'd be amazed at how many Russians and Eastern Europeans there are at this beach.
Are you getting hungry???
Because we are STARVING!!!!
How about we grab some lunch at one of the many "cafes" or "restaurants" that are lining the beach? I bet we can find some AWESOME Thai food (or, according to Auntie Margaret, just food as we are in Thailand!)
I think a round of cold drinks is in order. Cold beers for the grown-ups (I do LOVE the elephants on the Chang label!)….
And fruit smoothies for the kids….
Ava wants watermelon
Annika wants frozen lemonade
Some of us are going to order Pad Thai….again. 😉 You don't mind, do you?
And some of us may get dishes that we haven't figured out how to eat (at least not without help from a grown-up)….
Oh…I totally forgot!!!! We have to pack up and go back to the resort!!!! The Easter Egg Hunt starts in less than one hour and we don't want to miss it!!!! C'mon! Please help us pack up!
Whew! Is was a race against time to get back to the hotel and changed. Thanks for sprinting with us. Thank Heavens! We made it just in time!!!
Are you ready for an Easter Egg Hunt??? in Thailand?????!
On your mark….
Get set…
GOOOOO!!!!!
Ouch….check out the sunburn on our smallest Cheerful Traveling Companion! Guess the Chinese sunscreens don't really work???!!!
Now that the egg hunt is over (many of the plastic eggs were filled with little chocolates or Mentos candies) let's play some games!
or maybe hide in a giant toadstool mushroom??!!!
Let's play Fling The Plastic Easter Egg into the cup….
And now to the best game of all… instead of Angry Birds how about Angry Bunnies????
Or grabbing a plastic egg with a net for a prize…
Are you played out??? I'm ready for a break from all the games and all the noise, noise, noise!!!
How about we head to the beach for a stroll while we wait for our dinner reservations.
Can you see all the tiny sea shells in the sand???
Are you ready for dinner after all that beach combing…and Easter Egg Hunting….and playing in the surf? I AM!!! How about we eat at a restaurant at the hotel?? We can watch the sun set as we eat. Sounds to me…how about you???
Holy….schmoly!!!! Check out the size of that prawn!!! That isn't just a prawn, it's a PRAWN!!! (I think I'll take one of those…they're local- from the Andaman Sea. That poor lobster in the background? Well, he's a l-o-n-g way from home …which happens to be Maine. I think I'll take a pass on the lobster, thank you!)
Let's enjoy some awesome bread and drinks!
Ooooooo!!!! Watching the sunset. What a simple, wonderful thing!
Ah yes…and here is one of those ginormous Prawns for my dinner. AWESOME!!!! What did you order???
I hope you've all had an awesome day and a fantastic Easter with us!!! We're so glad you've joined us as it wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you! Now…time for bed! I bet you're ready to fall over from being dead tired, right??? I know I am! Off to bed as we've got another Really Big Adventure to go on tomorrow!!!
