Time for the night safari in Kruger National Park! Our safari truck is here. Load 'em up!
Thank goodness Debbie had the foresight to ask us to bring cold weather gear – hats, mittens, and warm jackets. And blankets!
My three all snuggly and cozy!
Driving towards Kruger National Park (Numbi Gate):
Views from the road:
This is the actual entrance to the park:
Here is our guide (explaining the planned events for the evening):
Check out the view…as the sun is slowly going down:
We've parked the safari truck. Apparently there are beverages and snacks available…we're going to watch the sun set up on this rock.
What tasty beverage are you going to choose? I know what I'm having!
I'm having a glass of Amarula!!!
Yes, a glass of Amarula for me! A nice way to warm up.
We're not the only guests on this tour. There are several other safari trucks (all from the same company- I think) with lots of guests from all around the world. Here is a Chinese couple taking a photo of a glass of wine (?):
See what I was saying about there being several other safari trucks here?:
Naturally our kids are exploring the area.
We brought a camera for Annika to take photos with…
Isn't it beautiful and serene here?
The sun has set and it's time to climb back into the safari truck – as Annika is demonstrating to us now:
The ONE animal we saw tonight….an owl. :-)
Well, we HEARD a hippo bumping into a lake but sadly we didn't see it. Oh well….that's okay! It was fun to go bumping around on the safari truck and just breath in the beauty of Kruger.
Our guide took us to a lodge just outside the park's gate. Dinner at the lodge is included with the cost of the night safari. I'm famished! How about we get some food? (like Mark is doing here):
Our group…trying to stay warm as it's chilly inside this big lodge:
The grown-ups stayed warm – drinking wine. :-)
Sadly, by the end of this day Croydon realized his wallet was missing. :-( We searched everywhere for it but we learned the following day that he had been pick pocketed while he was shopping. Grrr…Not cool!
It's sleepy time for all of us (back at our A-frame rental house). Tomorrow we're going for a drive into Kruger. I wonder how many animals we'll check off our hope-to-see list! You'll just have to wait and see!!!
