15-16 December 2014-
We flew from Paris to Munich on December 15 in the early afternoon – we arrived just in time to stash our luggage at the airport and head into the city. We're staying one night in Munich near one of the big Christmas markets (we've stayed at the Drei Loewen hotel several times on various different trips).
Welcome to Munich, Germany!!!
Ever since Mark has been coming to Munich he's heard of a restaurant/brewery called Hofbraeuhaus am Platzl but he's never gone…until today!
Check out the mug of beer he's holding. Now that is a MUG OF BEER!!!
Yum, yeah. Even I got a mug of beer (and no, I couldn't finish drinking it.):
Nothing like greasy German comfort food!
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!
Erf.
We're going to browse the markets before heading to bed:
Good morning! Breakfast at the hotel:
While waiting for the markets to open the girls crafted a few paper airplanes and tried to fly them around the room:
There she goes!!! (that one was too close for comfort!):
The markets are finally open…heading out. First stop, to get Honigmilch (hot honey milk) and Lebkuchenmilch (gingerbread flavored milk).
I love this dragon scaling these walls:
Lunch! Bratwurst at one of the stands:
Doing a little window shopping:
After some shopping it was time to head back to the airport, pick up our suitcases, and- finally – pick up our rental van. Time to head across the border into …. Austria!
One of the main reasons we fly into Germany instead of Austria is strictly for cost reasons – it's cheaper to fly into Germany, rent a car and drive into Austria.

One response to “Munich…the Land of Beer!!!”
How has Mark never made it to the Hof for a stein of bier before?
