Kawakawa: Hundertwasser’s Public Toilets

February 10, 2013-

SAY WHAAAAAAT?????

Did I just mention Hundertwasser AND public toilets in the same title?  Do those really go together????

Why, yes.  Yes they do!!!

I know that some of you already know WHO Hundertwasser was. For those of you that don't know -he was a contemporary Austrian artist…he did lots of unusual architectural art.  This isn't going to be a history lesson but you can read more about him on wikipedia.

AND…apparently he designed some public toilets in Kawakawa.  'mkay.

Shall we go check them out?

Alrighty…we're in Kawakawa.  I just saw a sign pointing which way the toilets are but now we've managed to drive through the entire town …and nothing.  Where the heck are they??? Okay, let's turn on the GPS (I'm NOT a fan of using the GPS) and see if it can navigate us to them.  Does anyone else think it's funny that public toilets could be listed under "attractions"???  I guess I amuse easily….

Oh! Hey!  Here they are.  Oh my….. I guess what could I expect from Hundertwasser???

Wooweee….is it hot or is it just me???  Yep.  It's hot.  How about some ice cream to help cool us off???

A Kiwi friend mentioned jelly-tip ice creams as something we had to try in NZ. I hope this is what she was talking about. It tasted like a layer of frozen Jello around a center of vanilla ice cream. Mmmmm….

We're loaded up, buckled in and ready to roll!!!  Where will the next stop be?????
