First things first:
CONGRATULATIONS, AVA!!!!!!!!
We are so immensely proud of Ava! She was awarded the Gold Medal for the Kinder/First Grade speaking group. The First Graders recited a poem entitled "Heart". By the way, Ava was the ONLY native English speaker in this (K/1st grade) group…which means that the ESL students really excelled at reciting the poems (which were all recited in English).
FYI- Each of the grades in the Primary School were assigned a poem to voluntarily learn and recite. The participating students went through two rounds of trials and the finalists performed this morning in front of the ENTIRE SCHOOL (Primary & Secondary students + a few parents that were crammed in the very back).
We also got to listen to several Secondary students recite their chosen poems. Sadly there weren't many high schoolers that participated. Too bad more of them didn't join.
I hope that when they do this next year they also change it so that the parents who are SITTING IN THE VERY BACK of the theater can also hear the participants! It would have been nice to be able to hear the children! *sigh*
