Happy Thanksgiving 2012

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!

WHOOPS!

I COMPLETELY forgot that yesterday was Thanksgiving (USA)!!!!  How on Earth could I forget such an important day????

Well, could it be that in China this holiday isn't observed and the kids and expats all had to go to school and work??? That's one of the sorrows (and joys!) of being an expat.  The holidays we're accustomed to observing may or may not be the same in your host country.  But that's okay!  We get time off for many other holidays we'd never heard about until moving here.  So, in the end it all works out.

Oh darn!

I totally forgot to take a photo of the leaf chain I made that I hung up in our arctic entryway.  I cut out leaves out of construction paper and on each leaf we wrote something that we are thankful for.  Everybody got a bunch of leaves to write on.  They looked pretty neat hung up – like leaves falling.  (I've moved on to Christmas decorations- shoot me now! I always said I'd never put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving was finished.  Guess I didn't take into account living in China when I made that statement!!! LOL!)

We are very THANKFUL and GRATEFUL for:

  • Family
  • Food
  • Our friends
  • A comfortable home
  • An interesting job
  • USA
  • China
  • Our ayi
  • Our driver
  • Coffee!!!
  • Teachers
  • Toys
  • ….and the list keeps going!

Ava fell asleep while watching "Scooby Doo". Must have been a tough day! 😉

P.S. We will get to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with friends on Saturday.  Thank goodness for friends!!!  That reminds me….I've got pumpkin pies to bake!

🙂

PPS.  I'm feeling a wee bit homesick today as I'm reminded of all the fun Thanksgiving meals and holidays we've spent with our family.  I'm also sad that I won't get to go Black Friday shopping with my sister-in-law, Beth.  I miss you!!!

*I hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving celebration!  Tell me- what are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes????*
