Happy Fourth of July!!!!

July 4, 2012-

Help us celebrate our first fourth of July in China!

I should be honest with you- I nearly let the 4th of July slip by without doing anything.  Sometimes it's easy to forget those kinds of things when you're living in a foreign country.  I did print out some coloring sheets for the girls (which Annika promptly colored and Ava promptly ignored….Ava is not a lover of coloring sheets or so it would seem).

I also made a dessert with our flag's colors and we had our first trial run using the smoker to cook a beer-butt chicken.

Beer butt chicken….using what else….but Tsingtao beer!

Dessert in red, blue and white:

Red and blue jello with panna cotta in the middle (that's the white stripe).

Mmmmm…..have you ever had panna cotta???  It's sooooooo yummy and easy to make.  I sheepishly have to admit that I didn't care for the jello parts and I stuck to eating the yummy panna cotta (it's a dessert with whipped cream and gelatin).

Sadly terrible photos of these very pretty desserts! Topped off with whipped cream and blueberries.

Maybe next year we'll remember to decorate the house! Although…we probably won't be here next fourth of July.  Here's hoping we'll celebrate it in Michigan!!!!
