25 October 2014-
Our family is hosting a Halloween Party today! We've invited several kids to come join the festivities. We've asked our friends to come dressed up in a costume and bring a treat to share. Annika and I have been working especially hard at creating activities for all of our friends to enjoy.
Here is the Table of Tantalizing Treats (before guests arrived):
Isn't the Monster Watermelon the coolest thing ever??? Mark made it for me!
My pumpkin whoopie pie monsters ….ready to be eaten!
The jack-o-lanterns are supposedly mango flavored "jelly". The girls tried them and did NOT like them (more for decoration than anything else. LOL!):
Those Oreo spiders took some bit of effort to make (they kept breaking on me!):
One of the craft tables (open-ended…kids could create whatever they wanted!):
Chae Rin with her cute little clay monster:
Ava grabbing a treat (I hope it's not MORE candy!!! AVA!!!):
Game #1: unwrapping the Present Ball:
Pass the ball and unwrap it. Annika wrapped miscellaneous items in sheets of brown paper.
The adults guarding the Table of Treats (and ensuring that the kids don't eat too many sweets):
Dance competition of sorts – when the music stopped you had to stand still:
Game #2: grab the treat out of the pumpkin.
Game #3: Pin the face on the pumpkin. I cut all the pieces from felt. Kind of funny watching the kids try this one.
Watching Michael Jackson's "Thriller":
Annika had planned a treasure hunt with clues (very similar to the one we put on for her last birthday party). It was a mixed success….I think Annika made it too easy and the kids went through the steps too quickly:

Annika's awesome Halloween cloak that Mark every so kindly sewed for her out of black silk fabric we purchased in Cambodia. All around quite impressive, don't you think?
The school hosted a Halloween party on October 31st – there was one party for the elementary kids (Ava) and a Fright Night for the big kids (Annika). I only got to see the elementary school version:
Ava dressed up ….dressed up…dressed up as WHAT exactly??? A doll? No clue!
YIKES! That's one scary looking pen she found!
Playing with a balloon….balloons are fun. Did you know that?
General Halloween decorations:
Annika made these awesome spiders out of piper cleaners and foam. We had them crawling up the wall:
Annika created a Bat Cave for me!
That was Halloween for 2014!
