Halloween!!!!

HOOOOOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

I've finally finished blogging our Japan trip posts!  I'm – what?- two months? – behind schedule.  LOL!!!

Here are a few photos from Halloween.  Mark and the girls carved the little "pumpkins". This year the girls hardly needed any help at all from us:

Even Ava can carve pumpkins all by herself. Although these "pumpkins" look thick skinned they were actually relatively easy to carve (or so says Mark. I didn't actually carve one)

So, this year Halloween fell on a Wednesday.  And this particular Wednesday (through Friday) the kids had off from school.  What to do???? Why not have an informal Halloween get together?  Hope that sounds like fun because that's what we're going to do!

I've just finished making the Eyeball Cakepops (they came as a kit that my mom sent us):

Creepy looking eyeballs!!!

And here's something else I made….a jack-o-lantern pinata.  (I made it using a balloon and paper mache technique)  I filled it with all sorts of random goodies.

The hard part was figuring out how to suspend it so that the kids could take a good swing at it.  Our original idea of straddling it across the trampoline didn't quite work out.  But pinata on a stick works!

For the piñata- we lined up the kids in order of age. The youngest (that being Ava) got to be first, followed by Amelie, Juandre, Annika, Marko and Sebastian.  Annika got a good crack at it.

We had Debbie, Marko, Juandre, Holly, Kevin, Sebastian and Amelie over to help us destroy the pinata and eat the ooey gooey eyeball cakepops.

Marko got it!

 Go Marko, Go!

And Marko destroyed it! Thank you Sebastian for being a good sport (yes, he still got to have a swing at it)

Scrambling for candy and other goodies. (I think I even put in a few miniature staplers as I was having trouble finding goodies. Weird. I know. At least the kids were amused!)

Debbie with one of the eyeball cake pops. They actually tasted pretty good! Or, better than expected!

One last look at this year's jack-o-lantern line up before they make their way outside:

It was a fun Halloween!!!  Maybe next year we can do a full-blown Halloween party but the informal get together with friends felt really nice and very relaxed.
