Fabric Market outing with friends

March 14, 2013-

Mark came back from his *very* brief to the USA with a shiny, new and very complicated camera.  I thought I'd take the camera out for a spin on a recent outing to one of the fabric markets in Tianjin.

I think the photos suggest that I still have a lot to learn on how to properly use the camera. 😉

A typical overloaded fabric stall. Too many choices. There's so much fabric that it's difficult to see just one….but it does make the market super colorful.

Need any ribbon? Spool upon spool of ribbons.

I'm actually going to have three skirts and two shirts made-to-order.  Thank Heavens my friends were with me and they could suggest fabric choices and styles.  I may have many gifts but selecting clothes and fabrics aren't one of them.  ;-)

I'll find out tomorrow (March 28) if it's worth having clothes custom made in China.

Stretchy sort of corduroy fabric…looks cute but I don't know what you'd make with it! ??

Lunch at a Chinese restaurant (I think this one is Hong Kong style but I can't be sure):

Many restaurants in China have these aquariums. You can go pick out your favorite fish/turtle/frog/skate/lobster and have cooked just for you.

This worker was being silly and trying to get these giant toads (or are they bull frogs???) to jump for me. See that red open plastid box in the background? It's full of these toads/frogs (all alive). They're just waiting to be turned into a frog leg dish.

Lots of gorgeous dishes:

I loved all the dishes but I was really fond of the curry. We ordered four bowls of rice and we asked for them several times during the meal for them. We got a bowl of rice after we'd already finished our meal!! How ridiculous is that???

And apparently I still have a lot to learn when it comes to using this new camera!
