Beijing's 798 Art District

I think it's time for another *nearly* weekly trip to Beijing!!!

Where should we go this week??????

Linda mentioned a place called the 798 Art District. Sounds interesting!!!! Let's go!!!!!

Hop in the minivan and fasten your seatbelts! (we may be in China but we DO use our seatbelts as intended!!!) And now relax for the next two plus hours. I think you know the drill by now! Now is a good time to read that book you've been meaning to read all summer long (hint, hint)!!!!

And…..now we're here! We're in the 798 Art District!

Ummm….five tummies agree that it's lunch time! Perhaps we'd better do something about those growling tummies and make our first order of business here to find a restaurant.

The natives are getting restless!!!

And now that are tummies are full let's walk around this Art District and see what we can see! It seems that this area is full of many different kinds of art galleries. Gallery after gallery after gallery.

As you might be able to tell from this map- there are tons of galleries all over this area!

Look at what this sculpture is made out of- tiny toy cars and bike tubing!

Well, it's time to leave!!! Linda and Wolf are heading back to Tianjin- via the train. We're sticking around Beijing, close to the airport, so that we can pick up Mark who will be flying into Peking Capital Airport in a few hours. We're going to visit a friend who lives in Beijing and then head on over to pick up Mark.

And naturally his flight is late!!!! Oh well. So, what else is new????

Okay, so this IS new. Oh-my-goodness! Check out how tall this fellow is!!!! The Chinese people standing around me in the airport were all taking this poor fellow's photo.

I feel kind of guilty taking his photo but he was indeed a curiosity to see. Please forgive me!!!

He's walking with a cane. It looks as if he has hip troubles.
