BBQ with Jennifer, Brian and (super cute) Landen

August 19, 2012-

Dear Jennifer said that she would like to eat some smoked ribs- those are Magic Words for someone like Mark who likes any occassion to make smoked ribs!!!

Both Jennifer and I ordered a set of pork back ribs from Aaron's Kitchen.  All I can say is it's a good thing that we both ordered ribs as the set we'd ordered ended up bad but thank goodness the set of ribs that Jennifer had ordered were not only good but excellent!  Sadly, Aaron has removed pork back ribs from their menu.  :-(

Anyway…. smoked ribs, some sort of roasted/baked potatoes, mixed salads, AND vanilla ice cream!!!

While the ribs are busy smoking is the perfect time to start cranking the ice cream.

Brian gets a turn cranking the ice cream machine. Remember- if you want ice cream you have to take a turn cranking!!!!

The kids played a boisterous game with pillows.

We had a wonderful meal of smoked ribs, French fries (and a few roasted potatoes that I hadn't…ahem…burnt to a black crisp), black eyed peas (I've never had them before- they were GOOD!), mixed bean salad and a few other additions.  Soooo good!  Thanks Jennifer for bringing the salad and beans!

Mmmmmm!!!MMMmmmm!!!! Vanilla ice cream!!!  The best ever!!!

One of the great joys of childhood- getting to lick the beaters!!!!!

And grown-ups get to enjoy the beaters too!

We had vanilla ice cream with miniature peach pies.  I have a confession- those weren't my best pies.  The peaches I used weren't very sweet or ripe.

The kids made and flew paper airplanes.

Thanks Jennifer, Brian and Landen for a fun and most entertaining afternoon!!!  I hope we can do this again soon!!!!
