September 9, 2013-
The girls' school offers an interesting array of after school activities for the students. One activity that Ava has been keen on trying since we first saw it as an option (now, that was when we first got here and she was in kindergarten): horse riding lessons.
This girl has been nearly obsessed with horses. She's repeatedly asked over and over again to take horse riding lessons but she was too young.
Well, guess what?
She's finally old enough this year!!!!
Today I went with her and the two other students to the country club where the riding lessons take place. It's about a thirty minute drive from the school (we're riding in an IST school bus). After we get there the girls get suited up- Ava is wearing a helmet and the other girls are wearing chaps. Ava said that chaps are uncomfortable to wear so she opted out of wearing them. Then the girls went outside and waited for the horses to be brought to them. One by one the girls were helped up onto their horses and then led to an open area. The horses were on leashes (or is it called a lead?) and the trainers had the horses walk around in circles. The girls were supposed to make an up and down movement (trotting???). They did this for about 40 minutes before walking the horses back to the stables.
Well, that was fun! I think Ava enjoyed it but I know she was hoping to do something different this time (like getting to walk in the open section).
Same time next Monday??? See you at horse riding lessons!
