Welcome to Day 5 of our Phuket, Thailand Vacation!!!
I know, I know. You probably want to stay in bed all day long, right??? You probably can't stand the thought of going to the beach. again. Am I right???
HA!!
Just kidding! No lounging in pjs today! You can rest and relax when you get back home. That's not this kind of vacation! :-) But you're enjoying this, right????
Today's Agenda: We're heading to Surin Beach today …which is a slightly longer taxi ride than to Nai Yang beach. In the afternoon the adults will join me and Mark in a Thai cooking class and the kids can join Annika and Ava in the Kids' Club at the resort.
Time to get some breakfast!!!
Hey, we keep seeing these young, fresh, green coconuts with straws go by on trays carried by servers. Why don't we order one and see what it tastes like?
Hmmm….it's different than I'd expected. Good but different. Not as coconutty as I would've thought.
Time to go pack your swimsuits and towels! Meet you in the hotel lobby in fifteen minutes. We've got a taxi picking us up.
Ava, what's with the goofy face???
Here is a glimpse of some of the scenery you're passing by while riding in the taxi. Oh, and those trees?? Those are rubber trees. You know, the kind that actually produce …rubber!!! We'll get to find out more about them tomorrow.
Here's some random town we're passing through…
And after about 30 minutes we're here! We found some beach chairs and paid some random person a few bucks so that we can borrow the two lawn chairs, small table and umbrella for the whole day.
Not crowded, calm waters, a beautiful day and lots of food vendors…what more can you ask for?
Well, maybe some ice cream would really make this day perfect! Why don't we get an ice cream treat from this fellow? We've been watching him lug his insulated bag up and down the beach. I think it's time we helped him lighten his load, don't you think???
Swimming in the ocean is just a great way to build up your appetite (or is just me?). Why don't we go check out all the food vendors that are right along the beach? I'm sure we can find something we would all like to eat!!!!
This place has Thai AND Austrian food. Ha! They have everything here!!
WOW! Check out the row of restaurants (this is right next to the beach…which you may or may not be able to tell from the photo). I'd be amazed if you couldn't find something to eat here!!!!
Yay!!! We found a lovely place! Thai food is what we want!!!
See? Didn't I tell you we were right next to the beach??? What a view!
Our ever cheerful traveling companions ordered frozen lemonades. Which ended up tasting more like a margarita minus the alcohol (as in…it was salty).
I think we grown-ups will stick with this:
(Chang beer….I just love the logo!)
Waiting for the food to come…
Mmmmmmmmmm…..naturally I ordered Pad Thai. Again. and Again. and Again!
Hey..go pack your bags. I know you- you don't want to leave. Neither do we but we're signed up for a Thai Cooking Class back at the resort, remember? We don't want to miss that! But before we go how about we get some fresh fruit smoothies for the drive back???
WOW! How did I miss this temple that was sitting next to the beach????
Just waiting for the fruit smoothies….Yum! Oh, cool! The gentleman helping the lady make the smoothies also happens to be a taxi cab driver. He says he can take us back to the resort!
Hey, here's a list of the drinks and prices …to help you decide what you want to get…
Okay! Time to hop into the taxi and head back to the resort! About another thirty minute ride back. Why don't you quickly freshen up and we'll meet in the lobby so that we can do the cooking class together? Sound good to you??? I think I'm going to love learning how to cook Thai food!!!! mmmmmmm!!!! My FAVORITE!!!!
See you soon!
