April was Poetry Month at IST so one of the events for the month was a Poetry Recitation Competition for all students from Nursery through Grade 5. Yes, even the little tikes got involved!!!!
Here's how it worked: each grade level had their own poem to memorize. Naturally the nursery and preschool students had very short poems to memorize compared to the third, fourth and fifth graders. All the primary students went through a few rounds of competitions and then the final ones were selected to recite their poems in front of the school. It seemed that there were about two or three students selected from each grade level to perform in front of the school. Annika made it through until the final round.
Annika was both very nervous and very excited to perform in front of the school.
All the students who participated got awards and certificates. Annika got a bronze medal (for her age and grade level). Way to go, Annika!
