August 24, 2012-
Thank goodness for friends!!! After the "interesting" morning we'd had I wisely decided to cancel my Chinese language lesson and go out with friends. After all, I would have only wanted to learn to say nasty words in Chinese which is probably very inappropriate and childish of me. Like I said, thank goodness for friends!!!!!!
First stop: a kitchen supply market
The market is one long hall- it just keeps going and going.
Monster sized stand mixers.
A towel warmer…???? Actually Ikuko said it was a towel sanitizer.
Meat slicers galore
Woks, woks and more woks. Some were amazingly huge!
An amazing array of stock pots.
Several shops with white dishes. Lovely clean and simple white dishes.
This might be my favorite shop- Coffee Shop with coffee machines and more!
Espresso makers- in the 14,000 RMB range. Debbie told me her tuktuk (small car on motorcycle base) cost that much!!!
Burr grinders and espresso machines. The grinders ranged in price from 1000 RMB (Chinese made) to 4000 RMB (American made).
WOW! They have whipped cream shooters and the bullets to go with them. Woo hoo!!! My schmoo shooter came with us in the shipment (by accident) and now I know where I can get bullet for it so that we can use it here in China!!!
Debbie posing with the DeLonghi espresso machine. 🙂
A tablecloth shop- they can custom make tablecloths to whatever size you need. Such a lovely assortment and very inexpensive!
We then went to another kitchen appliance store elsewhere in Tianjin (not too far away from Isetan) so that Kathy could buy a bread-making machine. Look at the beauties we found:
Oooooooooooo!!!!! I want one of these!!!! (our beautiful old stand mixer IS in storage back home). And stand mixers are such awesome tools for people that like to cook and bake. 😉
Now comes one of the nice treats for today: lunch at a Japanese restaurant!!!! Ikuko is taking us to a lovely restaurant on the 7th floor of Isetan:
The restaurant we'll be eating at….just need to wait a few minutes until a table comes available.
My gorgeous meal! A beautiful array of fish!
Kathy taking a photo of the lovely meal. I think this was Kathy's first sushi experience.
Debbie…with the sea urchin sushi. Debbie and I both came to the conclusion that sea urchin just isn't our favorite sushi. 😉 But we did eat it! (lots of ginger and wasabi for me!)
Mmmmm….Pine Juice!
And to polish off our fantastic lunch:
Creme caramel!!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!
I know what I want for Christmas!!!! (an espresso maker and the stand mixer!)
