Random Shopping Photos

Are you interested in seeing some random photos of some shopping trips I've been on since we moved to China???? Surely your answer must be YES!

๐Ÿ™‚

I won't take no for an answer. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You know…the best way to start a shopping trip is to start with a full tummy.  So, how about this:

This is called a Tianjin Pancake, Jian Bing Guo Zi.  It's a savory pancake (more like a crepe; the batter is made with eggs) filled with a fried dough stick (adds a bit of crunch!).  It only cost 4RMB (less than $1!) and, according to my driver, is a popular breakfast.

Various sauces…I have absolutely no idea what they were doing.  All I did was point to the one they had made and nodded my head.  I need to work on my gesturing skills!

Did you say you needed to stop at a home improvement store? How about a stop at Home Depot???  What???? Do they really have Home Depot here???!?  Why, YES they DO!
You can even buy Behr brand paint.  And you can feel at home with all the orange and white colors. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry this photo is blurry.  I still feel weird taking photos inside stores. But doesn't it look like a store back home?  Minus all the Chinese characters of course!

Now a fast stop at the Flower and Plant Market…..

Check out these cool plants!  Hmmmm…. I wonder if one of those pots will come home with me next time????

This market is vast- stall after stall of plants of all kinds (now if I could only find our common cooking herbs to grow).

And now we're going to stop at Metro.  Ah….Metro.  It's kind of like Costco or Sam's Club.  However, you don't have to buy in bulk.  You have to have a membership card to shop here but all you need to get one is your passport (for foreigners).  I think the only way the Chinese can shop here is if they have a business license.

Hmmmm…I think we'll pick up some microwaveable popcorn.  Sound good?

And how about picking up some treats in the international grocery aisle?

They also have unwieldy carts that are very difficult to drive.  Ah….and have I mentioned that we bring our shopping bags with us in China???  If you don't have a bag (and need one) you have to pay for a plastic shopping bag (it's just a few cents).  Not all that different from Aldi back home in the USA.  Actually, I don't mind that at all.  You just have to remember to bring the bags with you!!!

Metro has a smattering of everything- from garden, office and kitchen supplies to food and all sorts of drinks.
