Gitgit Waterfall

Watching the pod – or was it pods? – of dolphins leaping and jumping was certainly a fun way to start the morning.

After our lovely breakfast we hopped back into our van.

Next stop?

Lush & Green…. moist, clean air.

After we were first dropped off at the parking area that leads to the waterfall we were accosted by several Balinese men – each trying to encourage us to hire them as a guide to show us the way to the waterfall.  They all claimed that it was difficult to find the waterfall and that we'd get lost.  At one point they became quite belligerent and rude so we opted to just to take our chances and see what we could see.  The honest truth is that it was completely straight-forward – while there were a few paths it was clear which ones lead to the waterfalls.  At one point we weren't sure where to go but there was a helpful person standing at a kiosk – so no worries!  We did have to pay a small entry fee to visit the waterfalls.IMG_8709

At one of the views of the falls (this seems to be part of a series of waterfalls along one river):IMG_5800

With the gang!IMG_5815

We'd heard there was a swimming hole at one of the waterfalls so we went in search of it…

Found it!  Also found a very long rope swing…IMG_5829

Another waterfall:IMG_5833

Mark is dunking himself in the rather cold water.  I was too chicken to jump in.  LOL!  I did get my feet wet though.IMG_5839

Sacrificial altar?  Not sure. The sunbrellas were cheerful.IMG_5840

Yep!  That's Mark….jumping into the deep part of the pool.IMG_5842

Girls playing on rope swing.  Mumu and Lynn checking out the rocks in the water.IMG_5845

Very lush and green! And…a little bit overcast.IMG_5870So, as it turns out, we did NOT need a guide to have fun in the waterfalls.  :-)
