Took a quick trip to the fruit market this morning. I just wanted to show you what fruits are now in season:
This is what you see just as you're entering Ruijiang Fruit and Veggie Market. Lots of watermelons and peaches for sale. I'm not sure why there are so many peaches as they are all rock hard! They don't at all seem ripe enough. So far most of the peaches I've gotten have been bland and tasteless and none of them are free-stone peaches. However, the squashed, flat looking peaches (I think we call them Saturn peaches????) are sweet and tasty.
Watermelons, apples, grapes, some cherries (their season seems to be dwindling), several tropical fruit and several fruit varieties I've never seen before I can't describe very well. Oh, and ground cherries! And lots of 'em!!!! Too bad I don't care for them.
And this is where I tend to buy most of my fruit. That man sitting on the stool likes to practice English and he tries to help me with my Chinese. He also usually picks out good fruits for me and makes suggestions for things I've not seen before.
That WAS a quick trip to the fruit market!
