Dinner in Takayama

October 1, 2012-

Oooooooh myyyyyyy…..that was one very hot and luxurious bath!  The girls and I are PINK!  We LOOOOOOOVED the out door hot tub.  We had the bath all to ourselves so we felt like we could relax a bit and enjoy it.

Check out our red slippers that the ryokan provides for you at the entrance to their inn:

I think it's pretty much a given that you do NOT wear your shoes into the inns here in Japan. Or, at least that's what I read in the guide book.

Dinner time!!!!

Our dinner is served in a large room downstairs…so let's head there.

Now here is a quote from an email regarding our room and dinner/breakfast we've booked:

"The room and traditional cooking (dinner and breakfast) made by local mothers."

I'm thinking this could be interesting!

Lots of tiny, individual dishes!  And the individual cookers (with miso paste).  We had several different women scurrying in and out of the room bringing us different food items, treats, rice and drinks.  I'm guessing those women must be the "local mothers".

Instead of beer tonight, Mark and I thought we'd try some plum wine.

Wow!  The dinner was fabulous!  It's funny that so many tiny dishes can add up to one very stuffed and full tummy.

Okay…one of the ladies at the ryokan told us that they'll make up room for us while we're at dinner.

Yep… they DID make up our beds:

Are you ready for another night sleeping on the floor????  Tomorrow we're going to walk around Takayama before leaving on the bus to Shirakawa-go.

Good night!!!
