Today is a very, very special Friday!

Today is…
Mark's birthday!!!!!
It's not just any birthday…it's his 40th!
I made his birthday- New York style cheesecake baked in a graham cracker crust- the day before. (it's pretty amazing that Mark found a bunch of cream cheese blocks one week before his birthday! Sometimes it's nearly impossible to find here!! And the graham crackers? Well, they're from home. We have yet to find them here. So, as you might imagine I'm hoarding them.)
After a long day at school (the girls had an after-school movie date at school) and work it's time to go to dinner!!! Mark decided on a little Italian restaurant adjacent to Brassiere Flo in the Italian District.

This is a really nice restaurant- it opened a few months ago. We were the only guests – such a weird, creepy feeling when you know that most restaurants would be hopping at that hour. It almost feels like we have our own personal chef tonight!!!
The chef came out several times to chat with us. He's so friendly! When we told him that it was Mark's birthday he came out with this surprise for him:
After dinner we went home and "surprised" Mark with our gifts (chocolates and a bottle of port) and birthday cheesecake! Ooops!!!!! I completely forgot to take any photos of the cheesecake. Well, wait. I didn't forget- I just didn't want to. I just didn't want to show all of you the hideously cracked cheesecake it ended up! I'm blaming the Chinese oven!!!!!! 😉 LOL!!!!
Happy birthday to my Best Friend in the Whole Wide World!!!! I'm ever so glad we're together on this crazy ride called Life!
