December 18, 2012-
Ugh! Another early morning! I have a feeling that we'll be acclimated to our new time zone just in time to fly back to China. :-P
After breakfast we picked up Opa…today we're heading to Muerzzuschlag to visit the Winter Sport Museum and do a little bit of shopping.
We first stopped and stocked up at a hobby and craft shop in Muerzzuschlag. It was hard not walking out of the small shop without one of everything. The thing that cracked us all up was noticing the fact that most of the items were made in China! Yep…China. How about that?? And do you think we could find these items for sale in China??? Maybe we could if we knew how to search TaoBao. ;-)
Winter Sport Museum in Muerzzuschlag:
The museum has examples and the histories of all forms of winter sports.
The museum has the history of all sorts of winter sports including skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, ice skating, sledding and ski jumping.
After all that walking around I think it's a great idea if we sit in a konditorei for a few minutes. I convinced the gang to stay here while I run around to the different shops.
We bought the girls and Mark new shoes. I bought clothes and a few other odds and ends. We tried to buy a set of Gmundner ceramic (the green swirly pattern is something you'll see in most Austrian households!) from a little shop but the little lady running the shop just couldn't handle that order. Too bad! She lost out on quite an order!!! Mark said I could get a set of these dishes for my Christmas gift. I've only been trying to get a set for over a decade! We also found a SIM card- for less than 10 Euros. Now I can use my iPhone for internet (our little vacation rental house doesn't have wifi). Woo Hoo! It always feels good to be connected with the rest of the world (via the Internet …or InterNUT as Mark calls it). Why can't the USA make buying/prepaying for SIM cards be as easy as this???? No signing up for unwanted/unncecessary services. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
After all that running around we took Opa home- with a stop at a grocery store in Mitterdorf. We need to stock up on all the goodies we want to lug back with us! We also bought some bread, sliced sandwich meat and cheese to eat as a light evening meal.
We watched more cartoons in German- the girls are getting a kick out of watching them (and so am I!) – while eating our light meal.
Now it's time for lights out! Tomorrow we've got a long day planned- we're taking Opa to see his relatives in Ennstal. That should be fun!!!!
