February 1, 2013-
Well, I am so grateful that January has come…and gone. Even though it's my birth month and the first month in the year it also happens to be my least favorite month. This year was even harder than normal as we all dealt with air pollution above and beyond acceptable levels. The "fog" as China would have us believe really took a mental toll on all of us. Headaches, sinus infections, feeling tired and heart-aches ran rampant through the expat community. It's messing with our minds (and our bodies).
Any why is it that the US Embassy numbers are always higher than those posted by China?????? Huh….food for thought, eh? Want to learn about the Air Quality Index numbers (AQI)? Check out this website and this website for more information.
Today is the first clear, sunny, China-blue skies that we've had in weeks. Way to go Wind House!!! (it's windy today and we're in the Wind/Yellow House)
People are happier, cheerier. Probably can't hurt that the Chinese Spring Festival (what we call Chinese New Year) is coming up next week. Lots of people are heading out-of-town for vacation. The prospect of leaving China- or at least Tianjin- is a cheerful thought!!!!
