IST Farmers’ Market & a Thank You

June 5, 2013-

So…is it Farmers' Market or Farmers Market????  I can never seem to figure it out!

IST farmer market

Not exactly sure what this event has to do with farmers as there aren't any farmers associated with this event. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I gave the girls 40 RMB each this morning – they can buy whatever they want – but they're not getting more!  It's what grown-ups call budgeting. HA ha ha!

Lots and lots of booths! Lots of games…and prizes to win (or not, as is usually the case) and food for sale. It seems like every stall is representing a different charity or cause (such as recycling).

Annika trying her luck at the bean bag toss Can she knock over an cans??? (The answer: no)

Now Ava tries her luck at the bean bag toss. (yes, she did knock them over!)

It's time for lunch!  The girls and preordered a hot dog (for Ava) and two hamburgers (one for Annika and the other for me).  Yum!  A local expat deli is selling salads at one of the booths.  Ava and I picked up some tomato, mozzarella & basil and a fruit salad to share.  Yum!  The tomato salad is tasty!  I don't actually need the hamburger now. The girls bought a LOT of candy…and now their money is gone!

Grade 1 students lining up to get their lunch. Thanks, Annie (Ava's teacher) for assembling the hamburgers & hot dogs (even though you're a vegetarian!).

Annika and her little group of friends found a spot in the corner & out of the sun to sit and relax.  Ava got to join them as well (Ava LOVES hanging out with Annika's friends. Why do the younger kids want to be with the older kids???)

School gets out at 2:15pm on Wednesdays (they're early release days).  The Grade 1 parents for both classes have decided that today we're going to give the teachers their gifts.  I was in charge of acquiring the gift for Ava's teacher, Annie.

With the help of my friends last night, Annie's gift was wrapped up like a hobo bag on a stick (or a slag as Annie called it). Annie said she liked coffee, chocolate and books- her gift encompassed all three! ๐Ÿ™‚

The teachers work really hard – and the grade 1 teachers had a LOT of students.  They really had their work cut out for them!  They did a fantastic job over the past year.  I really want to thank Annie for all her hard work and dedication to teaching the Grade 1 students this past year.  Thanks for a fun & fantastic year!!!!!
