Thanksgiving in China – 2013

November 30, 2013-

It's Saturday and it's time for our Thanksgiving celebration!

Where?  Machi's house

When? 3:00pm

Who?  A group of international friends representing THE WORLD.  Literally…I think we had nearly all the continents covered! (I think we didn't have anyone representing South America or Antarctica.  Is anyone actually from Antarctica????)

We're bringing: stuffing, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake and fruit salad. Machi is cooking the turkey…and boy, oh boy is she an excellent turkey chef! Jen and Andy are bringing something extra special: Andy's first batch of home brewed beer!  And guess what….it's an IPA!  My FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!  Woo hoo!!!  This is going to be a FANTASTIC evening!

Machi created a fun table setting for the kids – she wrapped their table with paper that they could doodle and draw on.

And here the girls are demonstrating how it's done (doodling):

Annika's doodle (someone swinging from a tree and another person lazily lounging in a hammock.  I want to be that person in the hammock!!!):

Machi's beautiful table setting (ahem, this table is for "grown"-ups only.):

Jen, Julia, Kathy, Mark, Machi and Frances…having a laugh in the kitchen.  We were almost in tears with laughter trying to figure out how the "shake" mode on the WeChat app worked. I'm still not really sure why you'd need or want to use it! ????IMG_8959

The Mamarazzi:

The Mamarazzi were busy taking photos of "The Men" (hey!  Why isn't my Mark in this photo???  There is A Mark – Machi's husband's name is also Mark):

Let's see…who's in this photo? Ok…we've got Andy, Jean-Pierre, Machi's Mark, Izak, Dave and Michael.

A few of the kids buzzing around and eating at their designated table:

Ava's final doodle of Annika, Anna, Francine and Anais (the other girls sitting at their table):

And can I just say….what a way to celebrate a day of thanksgiving!!!!  We're so grateful and thankful to our friends (both new and old) for making our lives a more colorful and fun place to live and breathe in!  What would we do without all of you???
