42…the Answer to the Universe, Life, and whatever the heck else

Today is my birthday!

Mark made the loveliest breakfast a person could ask for: an omelet and a latte…and a beautiful bouquet to go along with it:

The bowl of orchids I bought for myself:Aren't those orchids just gorgeous?  Sadly, they're done blooming now (Feb. 8th).  I wonder if I should get more??

I did ask a group of ladies to come over for coffee.  I was thankful that they came and they also brought lots of wonderful treats and dishes to share at the coffee.  Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of this event.  I'm horrible these days at remembering to take photos.  

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is washing dishes on my birthday.  So this year I clearly asked Mark that if we had dinner at home if someone else could please wash the dishes.  Instead of having dinner at home we wisely went out to a Vietnamese restaurant in TEDA (we picked up Mark from work).  Spring rolls and pho for dinner! Plus, it was fun getting to see where Mark works these days (he's in a different building now.)

Pho!  Yummy pho!  What's not to love about a clear broth soup with noodles and slices of beautiful beef?  Mmmmmmm….

We came home and ate the rest of my birthday cake (Malakoff torte).  I shared some of my cake with the ladies earlier that day.  The girls wanted to put candles on the piece of cake.  Thank goodness I don't own 42 candles!  

And that was my birthday.  Didn't even have a single photo of me taken on my birthday…..probably for the better!  

I'm grateful for all that I received today.
