2014 Winter Show a la IST-style

10 December 2014-

Let me just say, I think this might have been my favorite Winter Show yet.  The primary school music teacher did a great job (along with all the teachers and TAs because it is a huge production) in getting the performance put on AND making it fun to listen to.  Well done!

Just to clarify – this isn't a Christmas concert…which I'm sure has to do with the fact that there are many ethnic and religious groups attending IST.  Please don't expect to hear any of the traditional Christmas tunes. (which is just fine!  We've got iTunes to help with that!)

On the bright side, all the grades- from the tiniest of tots to the BIG grade 5 kids- have been dutifully working hard on learning their songs and movements.  I must say, the selection this year and the hand movements and props used was quite clever!  [For example: using glow-in-the-dark hand props for the little kids (which, by the way, I wasn't able to get a good photograph of) was lots of fun to watch and easy for the kids to successfully execute.]

Ava and Isaiah were a pair of announcers for some of the songs throughout the show (there were other pairs of announcers as well):

Doesn't Ava look like a GIANT standing next to her classmates?  She's actually wearing shoes with heels and hence the tremendous height difference.  (however, she is taller than the girls she is standing next to).  Oh my…..I just noticed something….Claudia in the back row (she's from Australia) is wearing blue eye shadow and lipstick.  Yikes!  Isn't that starting a little too young???  (I'm allowed to be opinionated on my own blog. 😉 )IMG_4604

One thing is for sure, the kids really do enjoy participating in these shows and their enthusiasm shines bright in the dimly lit auditorium.  It's too bad that grades 6 and up don't put on a similar performance for their parents. (to be fair, there is the musical which is quite impressive)

Thank you to all the IST teachers and teaching assistants for helping put on this fun-filled show for us parents.  I really enjoyed watching it…and I know other parents enjoyed it as well.
