It's Speaking Time at IST!!!
Do you remember the Speech and Recital Competition last year? (I'll dig up the link to the post I wrote…after I find it. Oh my…finding it might be challenging. LOL!)
Well our Little Miss Avie Baby, better known as Ava, is *quite* the natural and talented (and gifted) oral speaker. It's her thing and let me tell you – she OWNS it! Umm…yeah I'm a proud mama and I know I'm a bit prejudiced when it comes to my own girls BUT…and this is a big BUT…she's not really good. She's outstanding! (ha! Did I get you?)
Funny thing though… although she can be outgoing at times she also seems to be more introverted and reserved. But she can sure put on a good show!
Below is the video of her speaking. She's reciting a poem called The Wrong Start. And like the title of the poem – I got the wrong start by hitting the wrong button on the camera to record her. So, sadly it's only part of her poem but it gives you an idea.

The Grade 2 Speaking Choir performing "Waves":(Ava is in the front row…she's a little hard to see as Ms. Lanham is standing in front of her)
It's Ava's turn! She's competing with three other students from Grades 2 and 3.
I'm hoping that friends and teachers took better/more photos of her… and I also wish I had another pair of hands! I couldn't juggle videoing her AND photographing her at the same time. RATS!
Gemma and Ava tied for Gold Medal:
Can I be honest with you? Gemma was very good – as were all the others – but Ava was BETTER. Waaaaay better. So, while I think it was nice and sweet that Gemma was awarded the gold medal along with Ava she's really not on her level. HOWEVER, to be fair, Ava is a native English speaker whereas Gemma graduated from the ESL program (she's Korean). So…in that aspect Gemma did an awesome job.
But in my book she's not as good as Ava.
And since I'm Ava's mom I'm allowed to be opinionated.
Right???
All the contestants on stage….and again I could barely see Ava because Ms. Lanham was standing directly in front of her. LOL!!! (should I be reading something into this???):
My sweet Gold Medalist, Ava!I'm so proud of you! Even if you hadn't placed at all I would still be proud of you!!!!
Your Daddy and I just adore the way you light up the stage.
(Ava, just remember – engineering is still the best career choice out there. You can do acting as a hobby. 😉 Just saying.)

Ava does an AWESOME job here. Wow! She’s grown up and become so much more outgoing than ever 🙂
